Rural retreat in the Calder Valley, cabins above Hebden Bridge
Reviews from happy glampers
Six bespoke cabins, and the West Yorkshire moors on your doorstep

Deep in the moors above Hebden Bridge, alongside the sweet heather and thistle banks, sit our six hand made, timber-clad cabins .

Designed by us, each cabin is named after the birds that fill the air in this precious patch of West Yorkshire; with carefully decorated interiors featuring wallpaper by Hannah Nunn and artwork by Kate Boyce that reflect the birds and the beautiful wilderness they call home.

Here, you can roam the landscape of Ted Hughes and the Brontës right from your front door – and fill your soul with the light, the clouds and the endless views. It’s wild, it’s beautiful and it’s waiting to welcome you.

Decorated in soft fawn ‘Curlew’ colours, this cabin captures the spirit of these delightful birds who nest in the pasture just a few metres away from your door. Step inside to a warm self-contained space fitted with a double bed and sofa bed; a kitchen with induction hob, fridge and oven; and a sparkling wet room and toilet.

Outside, there’s a large private deck with a picnic table so you can watch and listen to the Curlews as they come and go. The cabin is also fully wheelchair accessible with a level wet room and step-free access from the extra-wide car parking space. Curlew's deck also has a gate so dogs can be off the lead.

Tucked under trees on the edge of the wood, with a stream nearby, you’ll find Kestrel; so named because of the Kestrels who nest in the large pines overhead. Inside, the colours echo the bird’s warm russet-brown plumage, creating a cosy space to come back to after a day on the moors.

Like Curlew, this cabin boasts a double bed and sofa bed; a kitchen with induction hob, fridge and oven; and a sparkling shower room and toilet. There’s also a large private deck outside with a picnic table for breathing in the fresh Yorkshire air and drinking up the views south over the moors.

Also nestled alongside the woodland in the south-eastern corner of our site is Tawny. It’s wonderful accommodation and comes with far-reaching views over the moor. Inside, soft greens reflect the colours of a Tawny owl’s home and give the interior a peaceful, natural feel.

Here, you’ll also find a double bed and sofa bed; a kitchen with induction hob, fridge and oven; and a sparkling shower room and toilet. Slide open the bi-fold glass doors to let the landscape inside or step outside and take a seat on your private deck complete with picnic table.

A terrace of 'tiny houses', ideal for retiring to after a day exploring the wilds of the Calder Valley and the South Pennines.

Lapwing cabin

Lapwing cabin

With its pastel blues and whites, much like the shimmering feathers of the lapwing, this cosy cabin sits at the south end of our stable block. In the morning, swing open the half-glazed stable door and see the sunrise with a fresh cup of Yorkshire tea in hand.

There’s a large seating area outside, alongside a terraced garden, for cloud watching under vast skies. Inside, the space is intimate and self-contained with a double sofa bed, stowaway table and chairs, underfloor heating, a micro kitchen (equipped with an induction hob, fridge and combi microwave oven), as well as a neat wet room and toilet.

The soft greys and rose blush of a Linnet make this cabin a restful home for the two of you – and your four-legged friend. You’ll find it in the middle of our Stable Cabins’ terrace, filled with long views to the east.

Inside, Linnet is a den of comfort with a double sofa bed, stowaway table and chairs, underfloor heating, a micro kitchen (equipped with an induction hob, fridge and combi microwave oven), alongside a spotless wet room and toilet. On clear days, there’s nothing lovelier than sitting outside at the bistro table chatting to your neighbours in Lapwing or Skylark.

In summer, the rich song of the Skylark fills the air at Daisy Bank Camp. So, we made this sweet bird the muse behind our final cabin, which sits at the north end of our stable terrace. Open the stable door to Skylark and step into a fresh, bright space inspired by the Skylark’s sandy plumage.

Like Lapwing and Linnet, this cabin comes with the comforts you need to feel rested including a double sofa bed, stowaway table and chairs, underfloor heating, a micro kitchen (equipped with an induction hob, fridge and combi microwave oven), and a compact wet room and toilet. There’s also a terrace garden and outdoor seating area – ideal for stargazing when night falls.

About us

A playground for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers

Daisy Bank Camp is set in the grounds of our family’s permaculture smallholding in West Yorkshire. We are remote, yes, but also connected: you’ll find us only ten minutes’ drive from Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall and Todmorden. And only 30 minutes from Howarth, home of the Brontës.

From our door you can walk the Calderdale and Pennine Ways  or cycle the Sustrans National Route 68. Should you simply want to curl up with a book alongside the butterflies, birds and deer that live alongside us, be our guest. Think of us as your breathing space from everyday life and you won’t go far wrong.

Check in & check out

Check in is from 4pm on your arrival date, and check-out is 10am on your departure day. We can sometimes give you a later check-out time, so do ask. Please let us know if you are going to be arriving after 10pm.

PARKING & Outside Spaces

Each cabin has an allocated parking bay for you to park in. Please only park in your designated bay. There is outside seating for each cabin, but due to being next to moorland, use of BBQ is not permitted.

Daisy Bank Camp is tranquil, rural place in West Yorkshire for adults over 18 seeking peace and quiet. So, as much as we love children, we don’t cater for them at present.

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome and stay here for free. However, because we have sheep and lambs on site, all dogs must be on a lead and under control at all times unless in the enclosed areas. Dogs are not allowed to be left in the cabins while you are away or allowed on the furniture. So please bring your dog’s bed & blanket with you so they feel at home.

“We stayed in Tawny for the weekend with our rescue dog Betty and can't express how much we enjoyed our stay. The cabins themselves are immaculate, so wonderfully thought out with everything you could possibly need.”

Your hosts

Hello, we’re Angie
and Andrew
photo of Angie and Andrew

West Yorkshire is rooted in our heart; Angie fell in love with the moors reading the Brontës, and Andrew grew up walking the hills with his Dad. We love everything the Calder Valley and South Pennines have to offer. So much so that in 2019 we made our long-held dream of creating a rural retreat in West Yorkshire come true. Daisy Bank Camp is a special place of peace, with a sustainable soul.

We have created wild garden spaces that benefit nature on our permaculture site, so you'll see plants you'd normally weed out in a traditional garden, but the birds & insects love them! You can be sure that you’ll be greeted with a warm Yorkshire welcome here at Daisy Bank Camp – and a reet good brew, too!

The speed limit is strictly walking pace on site at all times; please only park in the bay designated for your cabin.

The very nature of our site means that there are hazards to be aware of at all times. No additional family or friends are allowed on the site unless previously agreed.

As we are right next to open moorland, no open fires or BBQs are permitted. This is because if a spark were to travel onto the moor and cacth fire, it would be devastating to that precious ancient habitat, as well as put all of us at risk.

No smoking anywhere on site due to the risk of fires; vaping is permitted outside the cabins only.

Daisy Bank Camp is a peaceful place, please keep that in mind when you are enjoying facilities outside of your cabin, and make sure noise is kept to a minimum after 10pm (you are more likely to hear the owls that way too).
